1. Who we are and what this policy covers

Crossword Daily is provided by TUCKR89 LLC, also identified as TuckR89 (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy covers the Crossword Daily Android application (package com.tuckr89.crossworddaily), its content and subscription-verification services, and this website. TUCKR89 LLC is responsible for the personal information it processes for these services. Google and other service providers may also process information under their own policies and roles.

For privacy questions or requests, email support@tuckr89.com and identify Crossword Daily. You can read this policy without signing in, consenting to advertising, or purchasing anything.

At a glance
  • Puzzle progress, settings, and saved play are primarily stored on your device.
  • Connected content and purchase verification send information to our service providers and backend.
  • The ad-supported experience uses Google AdMob and its consent tools. Advertising data is not the same as your locally saved puzzle answers.
  • Google Play handles payments. Google Play Games can handle achievements, scores, and a gaming profile.
  • You can manage advertising choices in the app and request access or deletion of information we hold about you.

2. Information handled by the app and website

InformationHow it is handled and why
Puzzle and preference data
Entered letters, custom puzzle words/clues where used, active games, completed puzzles, clue counts, hints, solving times, streaks, XP, achievements, and settings.
The app processes and stores gameplay and preferences locally to generate puzzles, save/resume play, and display progress. Our ordinary gameplay flow does not upload your entered answers or custom clues as a cloud profile.
Content requests and service records
Requested puzzle dates, your device’s local calendar day, requested archive month, IP address, request time, requested route, and technical connection/error information.
Our backend and infrastructure providers process requests to deliver Daily puzzles, archives, configuration and other content, protect services, troubleshoot failures, and limit abuse. A local calendar day is not GPS location.
Purchase and entitlement information
Google Play purchase token, product identifier, subscription status and expiry, verification time, and purchase/order information returned by Google where relevant.
The app sends a purchase reference to our HTTPS backend, which verifies it with Google Play. The backend keeps a product-scoped, hashed purchase-token reference and verification status. Purchase references are also kept in protected device storage for restoration and entitlement checks. Google Play processes payment details; we do not receive your full payment-card number from this flow.
Advertising and consent data
IP address and approximate location inferred from it, advertising or other device/app/account identifiers where available, ad and app interactions, diagnostics, device/app information, and consent/opt-out signals.
Google Mobile Ads, UMP and advertising technology providers process applicable information for ad delivery and personalization where permitted, measurement, diagnostics, security, and fraud prevention. The exact information depends on device settings, consent, region and the services used. See Advertising and your choices.
Google Play Games data
Gaming profile and identifiers handled by Google, achievement activity, puzzle totals, and eligible Daily completion times.
When configured, the app may attempt Google Play Games sign-in and send achievement/leaderboard results to Google. Google controls the associated account/profile information and visibility settings. Core local gameplay does not depend on a successful Games sign-in.
Support and privacy correspondence
Your email address, message, and any information you choose to send.
We use correspondence to respond, verify requests where necessary, investigate issues, and keep a record of their resolution. Do not send passwords, full purchase tokens, payment-card information, or sensitive puzzle content.
Website connection data
IP address, browser/device information, requested page, timestamps and security logs.
Hosting/CDN providers process technical data to deliver and protect the website. This website does not itself include an advertising SDK, third-party analytics tracker, account-registration flow, or contact-submission form. The sample clue runs in your browser; its answer is not submitted to our server.

The app does not request camera, microphone, contacts, SMS, or precise-location access for its crossword features. An ad service may still infer a general location from an IP address. Local app data may be included in Android backup or transfer according to your device settings; the app excludes its secure purchase-reference storage from the configured Android backup/transfer rules.

The current app has no separate Crossword Daily username/password account or cloud-progress account. A Google account used for Play purchases or Play Games is a separate Google service.

3. Purposes and legal grounds

We process information to provide puzzles and saved play; deliver content; verify and restore purchases; maintain Premium access; provide advertising and its privacy controls; support Games features; answer requests; secure and improve reliability; prevent fraud; and meet legal obligations.

Where European or similar privacy laws apply, the legal grounds depend on the purpose: performing a contract or taking requested steps for core service and purchase functions; consent for advertising personalization and device storage/access where required; legitimate interests for proportionate service security, reliability and support, subject to your rights; and compliance with legal obligations. We do not treat reading this policy, accepting the Terms, or simply continuing to use the app as consent to personalized advertising.

Providing information is optional except where needed to perform a requested function or comply with law. For example, without a purchase reference we cannot verify Premium access, and without a network request we cannot deliver new online content. Offline practice remains available as described in the app.

4. AdMob, consent and privacy choices

The free experience can show Google AdMob banner ads on eligible browsing screens, such as Home, puzzle selection and the archive. A verified active Premium entitlement suppresses these app banner ads. Consent or billing uncertainty can also prevent an ad from appearing. No ad appearing does not establish that Google’s services have processed no information: consent updates, store services and other enabled SDK functions can contact Google independently.

Google and participating advertising technology providers can use device storage or identifiers and the advertising data described above to deliver ads, measure performance, detect fraud, and personalize ads where permitted. Non-personalized or limited ads can still involve data processing for functions such as delivery, measurement or security.

  • In-app choices: use the shield/privacy control labeled Privacy choices when available. It opens the applicable Google UMP privacy-options flow. Where choices are required, use that flow to withdraw or change consent and select available advertising opt-outs. If it is temporarily unavailable, retry later or contact us. Premium users can also access required privacy choices.
  • Regional messages: Google UMP presents the applicable choices for supported locations and settings. European consent requirements can apply in the EEA, UK and Switzerland; U.S. state laws can provide opt-outs for targeted advertising or sale/sharing. The current consent message identifies the participating vendors and their purposes where applicable.
  • Device controls: Android Settings includes advertising/privacy controls that may let you reset or delete the advertising ID. Available settings vary by Android version. Google’s My Ad Center offers additional Google-account advertising controls. These are separate from in-app consent choices.
  • Requests to us: you can contact support@tuckr89.com for applicable advertising/privacy requests. A website visit or email does not automatically change consent stored by an app installation; use the in-app controls for that installation.

We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising disclosures may nevertheless constitute “sharing,” “sale,” or targeted advertising under certain state-law definitions. Where those laws apply, you may opt out using the applicable in-app privacy choices or contact us for assistance. We do not claim that ad-supported use involves no data sharing.

This website has no targeted-advertising tags, so it has no website advertising sale/sharing activity to disable through a browser Global Privacy Control signal. A browser signal does not automatically control the separate Android app. Applicable app opt-outs remain available through the methods above.

Read Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Advertising vendors’ own notices and the consent message provide details of their processing and retention. Our policies do not replace those notices.

5. Who receives information

Information is disclosed, as relevant, to:

  • Google: AdMob/UMP and relevant advertising providers, Google Play Billing and the Android Publisher verification service, and configured Play Games services.
  • Infrastructure and service providers: website and backend hosting, network/CDN and security providers, and email providers needed to operate and support Crossword Daily. These providers process information necessary for their role.
  • Other players: Google Play Games profile information and scores can be visible through leaderboards according to Google’s settings. Local puzzle text is not posted publicly by the ordinary crossword flow.
  • Legal or business recipients: where reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid process, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud, or carry out a merger or transfer of the service with required safeguards and notice.

We do not publish purchase tokens or payment credentials. We do not provide locally saved puzzle answers to advertisers as an advertising profile. Google and other independent providers may process their own data under their policies and applicable obligations.

6. Retention and security

We use retention criteria based on the information and its purpose rather than one period for all records:

  • Device data: saved progress, settings and cached content remain until removed, overwritten, or cleared through Android/app controls. Your operating system may separately retain or restore backups.
  • Purchase verification: hashed references and status records are kept to validate entitlements, restore access, handle disputes, prevent fraud and satisfy applicable legal obligations. Refreshing an entitlement does not itself delete its stored reference. We review deletion requests and remove or de-identify identifiable records no longer needed, subject to lawful exceptions.
  • Technical/security logs: retained according to the host’s and operator’s security and troubleshooting requirements, with access limited to appropriate operational needs.
  • Support records: retained while needed to address and document the request, resolve follow-up issues, or satisfy applicable legal obligations.
  • Provider-controlled records: Google’s advertising, purchase and gaming records and independent providers’ records follow their own retention and deletion controls.

When information is no longer needed for its permitted purpose or lawful retention, we delete it or de-identify it. Backups and legal holds may delay removal from all systems; retained copies are restricted to their lawful purpose. We explain a relevant retention exception when responding to a request where required.

The app uses HTTPS for configured backend traffic and protected device storage for purchase references. The backend stores a scoped hash rather than a raw purchase token in its verification table. We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the data, but no device, network or storage system is guaranteed completely secure. Do not include sensitive personal information in custom clues or support messages.

7. Access, deletion and other privacy rights

Depending on your location, the law’s applicability and any exceptions, you may have rights to know/access information, obtain a portable copy, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and opt out of sale/sharing or targeted advertising. Applicable U.S. state laws can also provide appeal rights, authorized-agent requests, limits on certain sensitive-information uses, and protection from unlawful discrimination. European residents may complain to their competent data-protection regulator. Withdrawing consent does not undo lawful processing that occurred before withdrawal.

  1. Local data: use Android Settings → Apps → Crossword Daily → Storage & cache → Clear storage (wording varies), or uninstall the app, to remove local app data. This can permanently erase puzzle history and saved games. Device backups and provider-held data are separate.
  2. Information we hold: email support@tuckr89.com with the subject “Crossword Daily privacy or deletion request.” Describe the request, the data involved and enough non-sensitive context to locate it. A purchase-related request may include your Google Play order reference if available; do not send a full purchase token, password, or payment-card information. We may request proportionate information to verify ownership, explain what can be located, and respond within applicable legal time limits. If we cannot identify a record, we explain that limitation rather than claiming it was deleted.
  3. Google-held data: use Google’s account, advertising, Play Games and Play purchase controls for Google-controlled records. For gaming data, see Google’s Play Games data-deletion instructions. Removing our local data does not delete your Google account or all Google-held records.
  4. Advertising: use the in-app Privacy choices entry point to revisit consent and opt-outs. You do not need to purchase Premium to make applicable privacy choices.

To appeal a request decision where an appeal right applies, reply to our response or email the same address with “Crossword Daily privacy appeal.” An authorized agent may contact us with appropriate authorization; we may verify authority as allowed by law. We do not charge for ordinary valid requests unless applicable law permits a charge, and do not discriminate unlawfully for exercising rights.

Deletion does not cancel a subscription. Cancel separately through Google Play to stop future renewals. Conversely, cancellation does not automatically erase local progress or lawfully retained purchase records. There is currently no separate Crossword Daily account to close.

8. Children and age-related protections

Crossword Daily is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 in a manner that requires parental consent without obtaining it. If you believe a child’s information has been processed improperly, contact support@tuckr89.com so we can investigate and take appropriate steps, including deletion or restriction where required.

If local law requires parental permission for a minor’s use or for a particular data-processing activity, that permission must be obtained. An app-store content rating is not permission to bypass privacy or parental-consent requirements. We do not knowingly permit sale/sharing or personalized advertising involving minors where the law prohibits it or requires authorization that has not been obtained.

9. International processing

We operate from the United States. Service providers, including Google and infrastructure providers, may process information in the United States and other countries, whose data-protection laws may differ from your own. Where applicable law requires a safeguard for an international transfer, a lawful transfer mechanism and relevant protections must apply. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to information we control.

10. Website storage, external links and updates

This website’s sample clue and visual interactions use temporary browser state. The page does not itself set advertising or analytics cookies. Hosting/CDN or security services may process technical connection information or use essential storage for delivery and protection. Opening an email link uses your email provider. External destinations, including Google Play and Google’s privacy controls, apply their own policies.

We update this Privacy Policy when the service or its data practices change. The effective date appears at the top. For material changes, we provide additional notice or seek fresh consent where required. A policy update does not retroactively authorize an unrelated use of previously collected data.
